  • You must fill the page with the drawing or many small drawings of the same object.
  • Make notes on it if you want to tell me about it.

They will be collected at various times over the coming weeks for correction and to make sure that they are being completed.

Failure to complete the drawings will result in a large number of marks lost for your summer exam.

2nd Year Research/Experimentation/Book Making Project

For this project you will be asked to cover a wide range of briefs. Each brief carries a specific amount of marks which will be brought forward to your summer exams.

Brief One: Research

You will each get an Artist that you need to research fully. You will gather this information and use it as part of your book towards the end of the project. This information will allow you to understand your artist and their works of art. You will gain an appreciation for art that you never had before.

  • Artist’s life/background.
  • What movement were they part of?
  • What was involved with that movement?
  • 3 other works that they have done. Analyse and gain an opinion on each.
  • Your personal opinion to their work.
  • Have they inspired you in any way?

You will arrange all this info on visually interesting pages with illustrations to back up your research. This will be used in your book at the end of your project.

Brief Two: Experimentation with media and further exploration into the works of art.

You will each do your own representation of 3 of the artist’s work using many different techniques and media. You will experiment with pastels, paint, wax/oil resist, inks, watercolour, chalk, sugar paper, crepe paper, plastics, fabrics etc. to create these representations. You will learn how to use a grid system in order to copy the works also.

You should have a minimum of 15 different drawings done on A5 paper (half A4).

Brief Three: Making the Book.

You will put all the pages together that you have done in the previous two briefs in a visually pleasing way. You will design a book cover with the name of your artist and an illustration of choice. You will learn how to make and bind a book. The books will be displayed for other year groups to see when they are all completed.

Each brief is worth equal marks and will all go towards your summer result.

To be finished on March 10th. (6 Weeks)
